On 22nd and 23rd September 2022, ICC Kenya hosted their 2nd Annual International Conference on Arbitration and ADR 2022. JMiles was a proud sponsor of the event.
JMiles was represented by Nikhil Desai and Laura Lusiji. Nikhil moderated a panel on Disputes in Real Estate, Infrastructure and Construction. The panelists alongside him were Paul Ngotho, Managing Partner at Ngotho Arbitration Chamber, Martin Mbugua Partner at Quantycost Consultants, Howard A. M’mayi, Deputy Regional Director – Kenya National Highways Authority and Chloé De Jager, Senior Associate at Pinsent Mason. The panel discussed topical issues surrounding the construction industry, such as, practical considerations for dispute avoidance, typical dispute resolution mechanisms utilized by parties to construction projects, and the position of adjudication in Kenya, and under Kenyan laws.
Laura Lusiji shared a young practitioner’s view on construction disputes and how to get into that arena.
